On November 29, 2018, Rwanda Nguriza Nshore launched the SME Investment Readiness Workshop series. The first topic was “Alternative Sources of Finance for SMEs in Rwanda.” The interactive event featured Huseyin Demirhisar, angel investor and seasoned investment expert at BiD Network.
Over 200 entrepreneurs and changemakers expressed interest in the workshop and 90 attended the event, filling up the rooftop of the Westerwelle Start-up Haus. The overall objective of the workshop was for SMEs to gain exposure to a variety of financing options and to understand how to position themselves to access these opportunities. Participants learned about the investment landscape in Rwanda, including traditional investment options and non-traditional channels. Extensive tips and information was on various investment opportunities – informal investors, angel investors, venture capital funds, impact investors – was presented alongside tips on what investors are looking for. Nguriza Nshore described the role of investment advisor services in general and the benefits of working with Nguriza Nshore’s key investment partner, BiD Network.
This workshop series is meant for growing SMEs looking for knowledge on available financial vehicles to drive their growth and individuals interested in impact investing and social entrepreneurship in emerging markets. This workshop is the first in a series of workshops and networking events for entrepreneurs, investors and other impact makers in Rwanda. Nguriza Nshore has designed another investment readiness series for microenterprises and start-up firms. We believe every business is unique and needs a tailored approach, depending on where they are in the business life-cycle.
